This article will go over the instructions for activating the Kiosk and disabling web browsing via Guided access on an iPad. Please go through the steps in the order below. A video of all the steps listed has been attached.
Setting up the iPad:
1. Get the iPad out of the box.
2. Press power button.
3. Connect the IPAD with the local Wi-Fi.
Clearing the Cache memory on the iPad using (Safari):
1. Ensure iPad version is at least iPadOS 14 or newer
2. Open your iPad’s Settings, scroll down, and select Safari. Then, scroll down to the option that says Clear History and Website Data, and tap it.
3. Tap Clear to confirm.
Clearing the Cache memory on the iPad using (Google Chrome):
1. Launch the Google Chrome browser
2. Tap the three horizontal dots in the upper right. Then tap Settings.
3. Scroll down to Privacy and tap it.
4. Tap Clear Browsing Data.
5. Select the option Cached Images and Files and keep everything else unchecked. Then tap Clear Browsing Data. Tap again to confirm.
You’ve cleared your Chrome iPad cache. Proceed to activating the kiosk.
Activating the Kiosk:
1. Login to app.qtrac.com on the iPad
2. Click on "Manage"
3. Click on "Locations" under "Settings"
4. Click on "Edit" from the three dots on the right, middle part of the screen
5. Click on "Kiosks"
6. Click on "Assigned a device" for Lobby Kiosk
7. Click on the link that is provided in the pop-up window. A new window will be opened after clicking that link.
8. Click on "GET CODE" **Remember to keep this window open as this will be the window for the kiosk.**
9. Copy the code and paste the 5 digit code into "Device Id" in the original window,
10. Click "Link Device"
Enabling Guided access:
Follow these steps to lock down the Qtrac Kiosk screen to prevent customers from accessing any website other than app.qtrac.com:
1) Click three times on the power button to lock the kiosk screen.
2) Enter the passcode.
3) Press “resume” on the top right corner of the screen. {Assuming: Guided access is already enabled. If you need assistance, please call 888-528-4872 ; Mon-Fri: 6am – 5pm PST}
4) Guided access is enabled which disables the access to web browsing.
Disabling Guided access:
1) Click three times on the power button to unlock the kiosk screen.
2) Enter the passcode.
3) Click on “end” on the top left corner of the screen. This action will end the Guided Access and you will be able to access web browsing again.
