How to Clone or Duplicate Designers

Alek Alek

Welcome to the Qtrac Knowledge Base! This article is designed to guide you how to duplicate or clone existing designers to another template or multiple templates.

Please also know that these same steps are applicable to duplicating Kiosk, Monitor, Scheduler or Mobile Interface Designers.

Follow the step-by-step instructions below to get started.

  1. Open Design menu on the left side. You can choose Kiosk, Monitor, Scheduler or Mobile Interface. For the purposes of this training, we will do a Kiosk designer cloning.
  2. Create a new template by clicking Add New Template at the top right corner to create new blank template that will be used as destination.
  3. Select the Workflow you want to create the designer for:
  4. Click Continue:
  5. Once you have done all the design components that you want on the Kiosk Template you need to save it. Simply, click Publish To Assigned Locations under the Publish Button at the bottom right corner of the page:
  6. Now go back to Kiosk templates list and choose the one that you want to use as a master template to copy from.
  7. Click edit:
  8. Once you are inside the template you need to click publish at the bottom right corner and select Publish To Template:
  9. This will bring up a pop-up that would look like this:
  10. If  you click, Select Templates you will be able to see all Schedules Templates that belong to the same Workflow. Please know that if your new blank report on step 2 is not part of the same workflow as the master template it will not be visible here.
  11. Select the Kiosk destination template where you want to be copied to:

p.s. you can select multiple destination templates at the same time.

  12. Once Selected Click Publish

That was It! Great work!

Now the new template created in step 2 will have the exact same settings as the Master template that you choose.

HINT:
Please know that you must have the Master template saved and ready before publishing it to another template. If you make the changes at the same time, they will not be saved or transferred. You must save the changes first before transferring them to template.

NOTICE: As you can see this is applicable to all designers except Home Interfaces Designers. Only difference is that the Home Interfaces designers are not linked to specific workflows. This means that you will be able to clone from any template to any other template, regardless of which user role is using them.
